Mark 3.1-6 KJV

1. And he entered again into the synagogue; and there was a man there which had a withered [JW1] hand.

2. And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath day; that they might accuse him.

3. And he saith unto the man which had the withered hand, Stand forth.

4. And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.

5. And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched [JW2] it out: and his hand was restored whole as the other.

6. And the Pharisees went forth, and straightway took counsel with the Herodian’s against him, how they might destroy him.

Luke 6.6-11 KJV

6. And it came to pass also on another sabbath, that he entered into the synagogue and taught: and there was a man whose right hand [JW3] was withered.

7. And the scribes and Pharisees watched him, whether he would heal on the sabbath day; that they might find an accusation against him.

8. But he knew their thoughts, and said to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand forth in the midst[JW4] . And he arose and stood forth.

9. Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

10. And looking round about upon them all, he said unto the man, Stretch forth thy hand. And he did so: and his hand was restored [JW5] whole as the other.

11. And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus.

Matthew 12.9-14 KJV

9. And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:

10. and, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

11. And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

12. How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

13. Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

14. Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

Revelation of Interpretation

Losing Faith Finding God

James and John along with the other apostles had recently just been shown how Jesus was ministering and helping others. After going into the synagogue, they were spotted by the Pharisees. The right hand man that they speak of was Jesus’s apostle. Could it be Simon Peter, or another? What do you think? Jesus was stretching him forth to do what he asked. Teaching that a man must wish to do good always in his heart always. This lesson in faith, how to keep it, and what will come of it naturally. The Pharisees did not like Jesus teaching during the Sabbath and in their temple. Jesus teaches the lesson c when you truly keep Gods commandments. After, Jesus compares sheep and men as well as good and evil to show everyone unbiased nature. Jesus tells Simon Peter to stand in the middle and walk a straight line. When Simon Peter does this he is restored as the other (whom is Jesus). The Pharisees then council against Jesus. Mark 10 and Mathew 20 continue with this lesson.

Two Followers Ask Jesus a Favor NCV

Mark 10.35-41

35. Then James and John, sons of Zebedee, came to Jesus and said, “Teacher, we want to ask you to do something for us.”

36Jesus asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”

37. They answered, “Let one of us sit at your right side and one of us sit at your left side in your glory in your kingdom.”

38. Jesus said, “You don’t understand what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I must drink? And can you be baptized with the same kind of baptism that I must go through?”

39. They answered, “Yes, we can.” Jesus said to them, “You will drink the same cup that I will drink, and you will be baptized with the same baptism that I must go through.

40. But I cannot choose who will sit at my right or my left; those places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”

41. When the other ten followers heard this, they began to be angry with James and John.

A Mother Asks Jesus a Favor

Mathew 20.20-28 NCV

20. Then the wife of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons. She bowed before him and asked him to do something for her.

21. Jesus asked, “What do you want?” She said, “Promise that one of my sons will sit at your right side and the other will sit at your left side in your kingdom.”

22. But Jesus said, “You don’t understand what you are asking. Can you drink the cup that I am about to drink?” The sons answered, “Yes, we can.”

23. Jesus said to them, “You will drink from my cup. But I cannot choose who will sit at my right or my left; those places belong to those for whom my Father has prepared them.”

24. When the other ten followers heard this, they were angry with the two brothers.

25. Jesus called all the followers together and said, “You know that the rulers of the non-Jewish people love to show their power over the people. And their important leaders love to use all their authority.

26. But it should not be that way among you. Whoever wants to become great among you must serve the rest of you like a servant.

27. Whoever wants to become first among you must serve the rest of you like a slave.

28. In the same way, the Son of Man did not come to be served. He came to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many people.”
